Chris Bakken

General Manager

We’re pleased to announce that Northwest native and lifelong boater, Chris Bakken, has taken the helm of Sea Marine as General Manager on May, 2015.  Born in Port Angeles, Chris grew up in Seattle and Oregon and spent his childhood on both fresh and saltwater. A graduate of Oregon State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Marine Biology, Chris has had a lifelong interest in boats and in business.

Sandy Bakken

Sandy, (wife of Chris),  new to SEA Marine and Port Townsend,  loves everything both have to offer, from art to boats!  She brings a fresh new perspective to the Brokerage and is working to improve the client/brokerage relationship.  She prides herself on finding the right boat for the right person!

Andrew Bakken

Office Maintenance

Andrew, a new hire for SEA is the fresh smiling face you see around the office and Navy building.  His part time status a godsend to those who use the facilities. Andrew takes pride in his work and is always willing to lend a hand, whether on the dock or at the shop.

Bob McMurray

Marine Propulsion & RePower Specialist

Bob is a perfectionist and craftsman extraordinaire. If he isn’t in the wood shop building custom cabinets, he can be found replacing a worn out engine with a brand new Beta. Systems engineering is his forte, whether electrical or mechanical. Did I happen to mention his carpentry skills were acquired while working for Gibson Guitar?  Sailing is his passion, his Baba 30 a personal project.

Ginger Brown

Financial Manager

Kaihla Corn

Customer Service

Kaihla, a Port Townsend native, is as talented as they come.  She multi-tasks like a demon, and can talk parts and bottom paint with the experts. Her experience around the yard is broad and deep,  if you call to schedule an appointment you will become familiar with her professional and helpful manner.  Skilled in invoicing and bookkeeping, she’s more than just a pretty face.  She’s second generation to our operation-yes, her mother worked for Fleet Marine back in the day! We are lucky to have her as part of our team.

Sean Brown

Paint Technician

Sean, our resident Hawaiian, is known for his positive attitude,  incredible smile and impeccable style.  He is frequently seen around the yard in his classy white Tyvek suit. Whether wielding a brush or roller, he is always on task, ready to roll.  He arrives at the crack of dawn and works hard.   It’s no wonder people come back every two years to have their bottom work done.  His reputation  is built on quality.

Aaron Boutilier

Paint Technician and General Mechanical

Aaron is a PT local that grew up helping his father out at the Auto Body Shop.  At age 6 he was sweeping floors and by 16 he started painting cars. He took a short diversion to paint houses in Montana, but the lure of his hometown brought him back.  After almost 10 years of painting cars locally, Townsend Bay Marine recruited him to paint boats and he’s been a boat painter ever since.  An amazing technician with unparalleled attention to detail, the finish results are consistently flawless.

Daniel Gillette

Electrical and Mechanical Technician

Daniel was raised in La Conner, Washington and grew up around his father’s Marine repair business.  It was through that business that he was exposed to all aspects of the trade.  He traveled frequently to the San Juans on his family’s Tollycraft which he restored and refit with his father.  In 2011 he joined the SEA Marine team specializing in systems installations.  A skilled Mechanic and Electrician, he is both ABYC and NMEA certified.

Jeff Johnson

Canvas Guru

Jeff Johnson is “The Man” in the canvas loft.  His background is solid, starting as an Aviation Electronics Technician in the Navy and remaining in the industry for nearly 30 years as a mechanic to both marine and auto industries.  Daniele and Jeff met in Alaska before moving to Port Townsend and purchasing PT Canvas. Last year PT Canvas moved under SEA Marine’s Corporate umbrella and revitalized the Canvas Loft.  Their reputation is built on quality design and construction.

Daniele Johnson

Canvas Designer and Seamstress

Born in Soldotna, Alaska,  Daniele’s passion for sewing started at an early age.  At age 8 it all began and at 10 she purchased her own machine. Working along side her mother for 6 years in her upholstery shop, Daniele learned the diverse nature of the business,  completing  a variety of projects for home, office, restaurant, ATV’s, RV’s and boat canvas.  Sewing Boat Canvas struck a chord and in 2011 she purchased PT Canvas.   Daniele joined the SEA Marine family in 2016 to do more of what she loves (sewing), and less of what she doesn’t (paperwork)!  She still owns her first sewing machine.

Clay Jones

Electrical and Mechanical Technician

Clay’s insatiable curiosity about how things work is why he is a mechanic today. As a kid, he was constantly taking things apart, re-engineering and re-purposing  stuff in the family garage and basement.  At SEA Marine he specializes in marine systems installations, both electrical and mechanical.  His most recent venture is Jones Jets.  Stay tuned as this business develops…

Liz Lacoco

Canvas Specialist

Liz moved here from the Caribbean after working in the private yachting industry as a personal chef for 4 years.  She is settling into PNW lifestyle nicely.  When not sewing in the loft, she can be found racing with the PT Sailing Association Thunderbird Fleet.  She recently “accidently” inherited a wooden Thunderbird in need of refit.  Taking on the challenge, she dreams of starting an all-ladies race team on her own boat.

Mark Lowder

Lift Operator

Mark comes from a long line of boaters and has proven his skills by handling and maneuvering vessels up to 50′ single hand.  As the master of our haul out facility he manages the process from water to land with astounding accuracy, sometimes negotiating between vessels and vehicles only a matter of inches. Capable, dependable and reliable, that’s Mark!  (Also, first to ask for donuts on Fridays!)

Matt Gittings

Fiberglass and Finishwork

Matt has been at SEA Marine for 13 years.  He started at the bottom, literally.  He began as a Bottom painter and slowly worked his way into different areas of the business.  He now specializes in fiberglass, gel coat repair, finish work and general electrical and mechanical.  His smile is infectious, his game – Hot Dice!
